EUROGATE Group and Konecranes have a long-standing relationship dating back to 1970, when Konecranes’ straddle carrier factory in Germany supplied EUROGATE’s first straddle carriers to the Port of Hamburg.
Since the first delivery, the EUROGATE Group has received 530 Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers, which have played an essential role in the growth of European container traffic over the years. In 2022, many Konecranes Noell hybrid type NSC 644 EHY straddle carriers were delivered to EUROGATE’s German container terminals. This type of straddle carrier stacks 1-over-3 with the use of Konecranes Noell twin-lift spreaders NTS 62 F.
For EUROGATE, it was crucial to achieve both decarbonization and efficiency goals, making the decision to use the hybrid Konecranes Noell NSC 644 EHY machines an easy one. According to Konecranes these machines can reduce emissions by up to 30%, or about 80 tons of CO2 per year, in comparison to the CO2 emissions of the existing straddle carriers.
The hybrid Konecranes Noell Straddle Carrier NSC 644 EHY continues the legacy of the diesel-electric straddle carrier with a smaller powertrain/genset. It utilizes a battery pack instead of brake resistors, providing performance that is on par with diesel-driven machines.
