Since early September 2017, a 21LC550 Comansa builds the main pylon of the new Champlain bridge of Montreal. Erected on the deck of the bridge, its height under hook is 67,8 meters and will be 180 meter high at the end of the work when it will be necessary to achieve the 170 meters infrastructure. Its maximum loading capacity is up to 25 tons to lift the large precast concrete structures as well as a heavy formwork panel. Opened since 1962, the bridge suffered a progressive deterioration, leading to the decision to replace it by the Canadian government. The Champlain bridge is the busiest bridge of the country, with 136 000 crossings per day, and its substitute should be operational in December 2018.
